Bay Farm Tour Visit

There are some visits we look forward to every single year, and hosting the Bay Farm Tours crew is always right up there. This week we had the pleasure of welcoming another fantastic group of UK farmers and agri-adventurers to Forest Lodge Orchard—and what a day it was! This lot were keen, full of great yarns, and asked all the right questions about how on earth we’re managing to run a commercial cherry orchard completely without diesel.

We’ve been lucky to have Bay Farm Tours include us on their New Zealand itinerary for the last few years, and it’s honestly such a cool way to connect with like-minded people from across the globe. The group spends a few weeks touring some of Aotearoa’s best farms and food producers, and we’re stoked to be one of their stops here in Cromwell, Central Otago.

Showing Off Our Fully Electric Setup
As usual, we walked them through the ins and outs of what makes Forest Lodge tick—from our solar-powered battery system, to our electric tractors, irrigation pumps, and cherry pickers, right through to our fossil fuel-free harvest season.
This year was especially fun because we had a new toy to show off—our freshly unboxed Pickman Picca (the first electric elevated work platform of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere!). Safe to say, everyone was just as excited about it as we are. It’s already saved us a ton of time on pruning and tree maintenance, and best of all—it runs on sunshine.

Until Next Time!
To the whole Bay Farm Tours crew—thank you for swinging by, for the laughs, the good chat, and for being as excited about electric farming as we are. We loved having you here and hope you had as much fun as we did. See you again next season—maybe with another new machine to show off! 😉
