Tesla Cybertruck on the Orchard

Last week, our fully electric cherry farm had an unexpected — and seriously futuristic — guest: the Tesla Cybertruck. And yes, it looked just as wild in real life as it does on the internet.

The Cybertruck rolled into the orchard for a quick top-up on charge from our very own solar array before heading off to Wheels at Wānaka, where it quickly became one of the event’s most talked-about machines. We’ve had our fair share of unique electric vehicles on site, but we’ll admit… this one had us a little starstruck.

Sitting in the paddock next to our Monarch electric tractor, the Cybertruck felt like it had landed from another planet. With its sharp angles, stainless steel exoskeleton, and absolutely massive presence, it turned a lot of heads — including ours. But this truck isn’t just about looks. It’s packing some serious power under the hood with up to a 123kWh structural battery pack, adaptive air suspension, rear-wheel steering, and a 0–60mph time as fast as 2.7 seconds in the Cyberbeast model. That’s faster than a lot of sports cars — and definitely a bit faster than our Monarch!!

The best part? It pulled in for a recharge straight from the sun. Our solar-powered EV charging setup on the orchard kept the Cybertruck humming, and it was an absolute buzz to get up close with one of the most talked-about EVs in the world. Whether you're a diehard Tesla fan or just curious about where vehicle tech is heading, the Cybertruck is one of those machines that really makes you think: “This is just the beginning.”
