Adopt a Cherry Tree – Our First Season Wrapped!

Well, that was a cracker of a season! Our very first year running Adopt a Cherry Tree has come to an end, and we have absolutely loved every moment of it. Seeing so many people get excited about having their very own Cromwell cherry tree (and, of course, the delicious cherries that came with it) has been nothing short of amazing. If you were one of the lucky ones who adopted a tree this year—thank you! You’ve been part of something pretty special: supporting New Zealand’s first fully electric cherry orchard, helping us prove that electric farming is the way forward, and, most importantly, enjoying some seriously good fruit.

What Is “Adopt a Tree” All About?
If you missed out, here’s how it worked. People signed up to adopt one of our cherry trees, got a personalised certificate, a season pass to come visit their tree, and at harvest time, we sent them a 2kg box of premium Central Otago cherries. It was a way to connect people directly to where their food comes from, and take them along the whole journey from Winter to Harvest.

Why It Matters (Besides Just Being Delicious)
The best part? This whole thing is about more than just cherries. By adopting a tree, everyone who took part was helping support the future of sustainable, 100% electric cherry growing.
At Forest Lodge Orchard, we’re proving that you don’t need diesel tractors and fossil fuels to grow amazing cherries. Everything on our orchard—our irrigation, frost fighting, harvesting, and packing—is powered by renewable energy. That means your cherries weren’t just fresh and tasty, they were grown with the lightest footprint possible.

Will We Do It Again? Absolutely!
After such an epic first year, we’re already planning for next season’s Adopt a Tree campaign. If you missed out this time, don’t worry—you’ll get another chance to claim your very own cherry tree and enjoy some of the best cherries in the country. We’ll be opening up tree adoptions again later in the year, so keep an eye out—you won’t want to miss it!
Until then, we’ll be busy looking after our trees, dreaming of next summer’s cherry harvest, and maybe sneaking a few leftover cherries from the packhouse (purely for quality control, of course). See you next year for more delicious, sustainable, electric cherries! 🍒⚡
